The Amudarya Basin Water Management Organization has 7 sub-organizations located in three countries (Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan). The BWO manages and monitors the functions for the interstate distribution of Amudarya’s water resources among the three riparian countries. It was created to improve and improve the management of water resources in the basin and to develop solutions to the problems of water management of the Amudarya River, including its main tributaries: the Pyanj River, the Vakhsh River and the Kafirnigan River. The BVI is also responsible for the management and operation of interstate main canals with facilities located downstream of the Tyuyamuyunsky hydroelectric station in the lower reaches of the Amudarya River.
