Representatives of water departments of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan discussed issues of shore protection along the Amu Darya River, reports Sputnik Afghanistan.

“The Government of Afghanistan decided to start negotiations with neighboring countries on strengthening the banks of the Amu Darya. If agreement can be reached, an important technical issue will be the issue of fortifications on both sides of the river, since if the work is carried out by one side, then naturally the other (side) damage will be done, “said Tamim Bahadurzai, director of the irrigation project department of the Afghan Ministry of Energy and Water.
